The production of foam rubber is a technological process based on the use of complex chemical compounds. Proper organization requires specialized specialists, professional equipment, high-quality raw materials and equipped premises that meet the standards.

The mixture for production is composed of:
- main components (polyesters and isocyanate components);
- modifying additives (surfactants and catalysts);
- water.
There are two manufacturing methods. The priority one is in-line. It is used for large volumes. In this case, the resulting polyurethane foam is characterized by standard density indicators. Technically, the process consists of a number of sequential actions:
- placement of a given volume of chemicals in a special apparatus;
- sending the resulting mixture to a moving conveyor for foaming;
- dividing the formed layers into blocks of a given length;
- holding and cooling for 72 hours;
- cutting into layers of a given width.
A significant drawback of this method is that it does not allow the manufacturer to respond to dynamically changing requirements for the appearance and ergonomics of modern furniture. This method is suitable for work in those industries where there is a need to obtain a large number of polyurethane foam of the same composition and properties. In addition, it requires impressive financial costs.
We use a different method as a basis - periodic or block. Its priority is that the foam is built up from the bottom up, improving quality indicators - wear resistance, strength and elasticity of foam rubber. Specifics of this method:
- the reagents are poured into a mixer of the appropriate volume;
- mixed in a foaming machine;
- poured into a mold with movable walls;
- maintain the resulting block;
- cut into pieces of the required thickness and configuration.
When using this technology, an elastic material is obtained that is excellent for furniture production. Block polyurethanes are a type of elastic filler with a wide range of specific characteristics and an apparent density from 16 to 60 kg/cub.m. The process is economical and does not require large areas.
